I've changed it to "More than a century" to be more accurate. However, I don't think you understood the point of my post. It wasn't that people like women were not oppressed in their time, it's that there was a war fought (partially) to end oppression and I find it ironic that now-a-days people act in a way that could be viewed as wanting to be oppressed.
